Each fall, we hold a residency dinner featuring program directors and residents throughout Georgia who come to speak to our students about their residency programs and what makes each one unique. This event affords students the chance to learn exactly what a residency is, to network with preceptors and residents and preceptors from around the state, to gain insight about the application process, and to learn about qualifications that make residency applicants stand out.
In the spring, GSHP holds an annual curriculum vitae workshop. During this event, students are presented with what information should be included in a CV and provided feedback from UGA College of Pharmacy faculty members about their individual CVs. The workshop has enabled many students to feel better equipped as potential residency candidates as they prepare for the application process.
We offer service opportunities for our members, such as participation in the annual UGA College of Pharmacy Dawgtoberfet Health Fair and Cardiac Rehabilitation Counseling at St. Mary’s Hospital. In addition, we hold meetings throughout the year with invited speakers who discuss topics relevant to health-system pharmacy practice. We also collaborate with the Northeast Georgia District of GSHP to conduct joint meetings with invited speakers, giving students the opportunity to network with local health-system pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
